Honestly--I Tried

Book CoverLast night I decided maybe I wasn't being fair to Jina Bacarr's Naughty Paris, see yesterday's post, so I picked it back up. After reading another couple of chapters and skimming through several passages, I've officially given up.

Convoluted mess is my best description and Wendy, you're right, full of purple prose. There's an ick factor to the book that completely didn't work for me. Most of what I read didn't seem titillating, it just felt dirty, and not in a good way.

Pity. I hadn't even heard of this book/author and given that I pay attention to your reviews (heh) this could have been a sale for the author. It's so much that you didn't like the book, but you quite literally have to say about it beyond bad writing. Nothing about character, plot, setting, etc. ie, nothing I can base my own judgement on. That alone speaks volumes. :-/ It's not really the bad reviews that kill a book sale, its the meh/dnf ones.

Jaye, I added "see yesterday's" post with a link :) I hope that I included enough information between the two posts to explain why it didn't work.

It's not really the bad reviews that kill a book sale, its the meh/dnf ones. This is so true.

A detailed bad review can hold enough information that it will push you to try it just to see if it's that bad, or maybe find some kernel of information that may be interesting.

But a review of a meh/dnf usually leaves the reader uninterested enough to write details that probably should be included.

Geez, it's a wonder you made sense of my first post, Tara, considering the missing words. *g*

This sentence should read: It's not so much that you didn't like the book, but you quite literally have nothing to say about it beyond bad writing.

But you got the gist.
'k. I have the day off today, and really must get my butt in gear and get back to writing.
