An hour and a half and it was done.
It was MUCH better than I had expected. It probably paid to read Rosie and the Dear Author reviews.
Was it worth $9? No, but I wonder if anyone would be grumbling if it was a category romance instead?
Was it Open Season or Dream Man or Mr. Perfect? No, but it wasn't supposed to be. It's exactly what it's meant to be... a quick entertaining read. And, honestly, it would make a great action/adventure movie.
I'll blog more later as I'm working After Care at school.

Actually, I think if it were a category romance long time fans would have been over the moon.
I remember thinking when you first said you got it for $9 on Amazon, "Hey, that's a pretty good deal." But then I realized, tack on 50 more pages, pay $4 less and you have a SuperRomance. Or in Howard's case - tack on about 20 more pages and charge $5 less and you have a Silhouette Romantic Suspense....
I'm glad to hear you liked it. But I have to agree with Wendy - it's way overpriced at $9 let alone the $22 full retail price. That said, I still plan to read it but I'm getting it from the my library. Unfortunately 211 other people had the same idea. *sigh* It may be 2012 before I get to the top of the hold list :)
Wendy--It's definitely the price that the problem, the story itself is fine and works.
Renee--it's less than 200 pages hopefully the list will move quick :)
Actually I wasn't thinking category, although now that you mention it that at least makes more sense. I was actually thinking more like a duo or anthology.
I just want to read one of her books and be gripped with interest. Honestly after the spate of good books I read over the last month I don't think I'm a jaded reader. Ms. Howard can definitely tell a story, they just seem to lack the same punch they used to have.
Laughing - at least that's better then the $26 some odd dollars they're asking here!! And $9 for a hardcover is pretty good actually.
I've a feeling I won't be getting this one in hardcover OR mm - and that just makes me want to cry.
