Back on track...

Well, I'm kind of back on track. I almost have a routine... Get up, make breakfasts, pack lunches, take a shower, drop Junior off at school, run errands, blog, clean house, pick Junior up from school, cook dinner, clean up, Junior's shower and bedtime, ah then it's time to read and well, whatever.

I've finished two more books (Caroline Linden's What a Gentleman Wants and Elizabeth Boyle's His Mistress by Morning, both are listed on my sidebar) neither was all that memorable, so I probably wont write reviews. It seems I can either gush about a book or rant about it, but somewhere in the middle completely escapes me.

I had planned to write something yesterday, but couldn't bring myself to do it. I cried through most of the mornings news coverage.

Junior is in school full time. Yesterday he got his name on the blackboard for not listening--it's going to be a really long year--LOL. What he's learned so far this year... 1. Thomas the Tank Engine is for babies and 2. Only girls wear sweaters.

I couldn't bear to post about Monday. It's very fresh for me. It was a long day.

I couldn't watch TV at all yesterday without getting choked up with tears so I finally had to turn if off.

Is Junior in 1st grade? Sounds like he's a handful that keeps you on your toes. :) Very cute.

You are right. It's much easier to gush or rant. Those B-/C+ book reviews are the hardest for me to write. I haven't read either of those authors.

Amanda, I don't know what it's like in other parts of the country, but in the NY Metro area we hear about "Ground Zero" on a daily basis, it's very hard to "move on" when it's in our news daily.

Renee, I cry easily, so this is very hard.

I like Caroline Linden, but this one wasn't as good as her first one. And, I think this was my first Boyle, I'll have to check my lists--not that impressed.

I read the Boyle, too -- I ended up skimming a lot of the first half. It was a...different (trying to avoid big spoilers) kind of book, but I think the way the storyline was split lost a lot of the romance for me. That, and not having any of the hero's POV in the first half. It helped when we finally got to see some of his, but by then...yeah, not enough time left in the book.

I think I was actually more interested in the earl's story (was he an earl? The other guy, whom the heroine's friend was interested in). I might pick that one up when it comes out.

Yesterday was a very difficult day, wasn't it? I was in a funk the whole time.

So Junior's liking full day kindergarten? Except for the listening part, eh? lol

So far I am liking the Linden but dont' think I am going to bother with the Boyle. Seems too Dallas bobby in the shower for me...

Meljean, I didn't like the hero until we were getting his POV. He's probably one of the few heros I've every seen that was "P*^%)& whipped", and good lord I hate that expression. The Earl was much more interesting, actually I thought his ecentric parents, sisters and brother were more interesting.

Jen, it was a terribly funky day.

Listening at this age is an issue in general, but he's having fun.

Sybil, it is rather "Bobbyesque", the more I think about it the less I like it and yet like Meljean said the Earl was more interesting and I may try Boyle again if she writes his book.

I'm convinced that the true purpose of kindergarten is to learn how to behave for the rest of the child's school career. As you say, listening is a novelty at that age. My son wasn't very good at listening when he was in kindergarten. Probably because he was always talking.

He's in highschool now and while he's learned to be quiet and pay attention in school, he hasn't changed at home! :o)

The Linden book wasn't bad, I put it in the Good Category, but I'd read something very similar recently and that stuck in my mind. I did like the hero, very Duke like.

The Boyle was one of those books you tried really hard to like because the premise was great, but yikes, it didn't completely work.
