Sick Mode

Never believe a 4 year old when he says "I'm not going to throw up."

We've now spent the last several days in sick mode. The poor child has chronic post nasal drip caused by allergies, unfortunately this makes him sick to his stomach and add to that a real stomach virus and we have a recipe for disaster. For the past 2 days he's been eating the BRAT (bananas, rice, apples, toast) only we don't have any bananas in the house so I guess we would call it the RAT diet.

He actually has an incredibly sensitive stomach and we've only discovered one allergy medication that he will keep down and it's no longer available because it's being reformulated, whatever that means. All I know is I called several pharmacies looking for it and no one has it. Tomorrow we are back to the pediatrician for samples of one they think he'll keep down.

I'm done whining about my son being sick.

I reread Susan Squires' The Companion this weekend. I couldn't remember whether or not Langley from The Hunger was in it. Beatrix was, but Langley wasn't, though there is a nameless reference to him and she is anxious to get back to Amsterdam. For some reason I find myself wanting to see the characters from previous books almost as if to verify that the HEA is real. I'm trying to find a copy of The Only One which is an anthology from a couple of years ago that is part of this series. Can you tell I'm getting a little obsessive about the whole thing??--LOL

Have a great night and happy reading.

Sorry to hear about Junior, all of us have terrible allergies, so I empathize with you. Husband says to ask have you tried Levsin? Apparently it's a new med & works wonders for drying up noses. I've no idea if it's good for kids. Prescription only. Best wishes for your little one.

Poor chap. I can relate having raised twins, one with ashtma and allergies, the other with a super-sensitive tummy. At least one didn't have both problems, which Junior seems to have accumulated. :-(
The French think bananas are very hard to digest, and so don't give them to upset tummies.
They're more into carrots - steamed, mashed, strained and add chicken broth for a light soup.
Most French babies are very orange, lol.

Awwww, what a brave little guy. I hope you are able to get something quickly that won't hurt his stomache.

Also, it's good to know that there are others who become obsessed about their books. My problem is I just received these and now I know there is another set of books I will become enamored of. I'm just not ready!! Dark Lover is still in my brain!

CindyS (moving on;))

PS - when I had my sinus infections last spring I was given Nasonex - a nasal spray that dries up the sinuses. Works great and it has a dosage for children over three. The thing is, this stuff will hit the back of the throat so if he also has a strong gag reflex this might not be the one. I used it when I got sick last week and I swear it tore the head cold out and kicked it's butt ;)

Amanda, we're heading to the pediatrician today, so I'm writing down "Levsin." When I talked to her Saturday afternoon, she said they had samples of a new product that may be palatable for him--we can only hope.

Sam, we were feeding him a nice bland diet of vegies and noodles in chicken broth, but Saturday he started with 12 hours of off and on diarrhea, and that's why the pediatrician recommended BRAT because they are more binding--I know way too much info--LOL.

Cindy, thanks for the Nasonex idea, but I think it will probably gag him. The only thing the poor child inherited from me (he looks nothing like me) are his allergies/sinus condition and that sensitive stomach, I eventually outgrew the throwing up, thank God or my mom would have paid gypsies to take me off her hands.

Book obsessions are dangerous, I've got 4 going right now, Susan Carroll, JR Ward, Lynn Viehl and Susan Squires. I would kill for ARCs of any their next books, well, maybe not kill, but I sure don't want to actually wait for their releases, patience is not one of my virtues.
