Round and round we go...

Enough already. If you don't like snark, don't visit those sites, if you like those sites, but think they go overboard once in a while don't read those posts, it's usually pretty obvious within the first or second sentence where the post is going.

It must be slow week in blogland the same old is being recycled.

And, what the heck is wrong with me? I know where the train's going and I still follow along for the inevitable wreck.

Actually, for some strange reason, I thought this one was kind of interesting. Different even. Odd that.

I love those crazy trains. Can't get any work done when they're whizzing by but trainspotting seems to have become a compulsion.

Um... have I missed a post? what sites? Huh?

Annie, thank you--LOL

Amie & anonymous--you can find all the links through Karen Scott's blog.

Bev--I saw you and Robin having serious conversations over the whole thing. My problem, she used blanket statements that weren't really backed up by the examples she used. The sites she named all are very good about explaining in detail what they love or hate about books.

Honestly if you're not comfortable with that level of snark don't read it.

But that's the thing Tara, I don't think that the posts I linked to explained. There are very few reviews on Dear Author like that, I usually find them brilliant, but I was asked for examples. And the other example I thought backed my thoughts up completely

I skimmed read one post, skimmed a couple of the first few comments then left well enough alone. It's the same ole same ole. No one's changings anyone else's mind. The flies are just circling this poor dead horse of a topic.

Maria, I'm not going to debate whether or not the reviews are valid, it's reached the point of different perspectives.

I read just about every review at DA and have never seen them pan something without detail. Bam gives complete disertations on what works and doesn't for her. Karen may be a little vaguer but you always know what she likes and doesn't.

The simple truth is you know whether or not a review is going to make you cringe or feel uncomfortable pretty quick. Don't read them, move on to something else.

This discussion happens over and over and you're not going to change the situation. It is what it is.

Jaye, that's just it, the arguements never change--the poor horse is beyond dead.

It was never my hope to change the situation, I only wanted to understand why poeple like and read these reviews, and why they are written. And lots of people have given me great reasons for it which I really appreciate and have changed my viewpoint slightly.
And if this was a dead horse, surely there wouldnt have been so many opinions flying around. And personally, I think this was the most interesting discussion which has occured in romanceland recently.
I'm not trying to drag this thing out, I only want people to understand where I was coming from when I wrote that post. Some people misunderstood it completely

But then again I wrote it at 2.30 in the morning so maybe I wasn't very clear, lol

I'm not sorry I was out of town and cyber space and missed this. Same old, same old.
