This book has a fabulous premise and spends the 3/4 working toward something completely different in Regency period romances, which should have made this book an excellent or at the very least a very good read. Unfortunately, the last 1/4 of the book is so contrived it ended up leaving me disappointed. She's an ex-courtesan, he's willing to give up society for her--fine, love this, great idea, but somehow the author twists the story around so they are completely accepted by the "ton"--let's make it a perfect ending, for some reason this just didn't work for me.It's still a good book, but for me it needed a different ending.

Uh-oh, that does not sound good. Reminds me of Balogh's No Man's Mistress. I really didn't buy it.

JJ is a hit or miss author for me. This is down on my want list but not something I will buy - new or used - until I can read a chapter or so.
I agree with you on The Courtesan. It was just a little too "neatly tied up with a bow" ending. Although I do applaud her and many other authors I've read lately who have broken the mold on the perfect little virgin princess heroine that up until now been the only choice in historicals. It's nice to have a wider range of heroines
