The bags are packed...

Just sent my husband off to work. His last day, vacation starts when he walks in the door at 5:00. Everything is packed with the exception of our pillows (can't sleep without my own) and my books. The books are sitting on the desk next to me so I can list them:

  1. Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife--Linda Berdoll, tiny print I may go blind reading this one.
  2. One Forbidden Evening--Jo Goodman, I'm about 100 pages into this one, so far great, but one complaint, Ferrin is constantly referred to as a "Rake" and he's not one.
  3. One Good Turn--Carla Kelly, it's on AAR's top 100, found it at the UBS on Wednesday. I'm pretty sure it's the one Rosario recommended, I've never read her but Megan says she has a strong "voice".
  4. The Cad--Edith Layton, love the title, think I may have read it but the blurb doesn't sound familiar.
  5. Marriage by Design--Lynn Michaels, hope it's a good one.
  6. The Grail King--Joy Nash
  7. Maybe Baby--Lani Diane Rich, the clerk at the UBS recommended this one.
  8. Lady Katherne's Wild Ride--Jeane Westin
  9. His Lordship's Desire--Joan Wolf, if it's really bad I'll throw it in the Atlantic.

Hopefully it's a nice variety.

I'll be back during the day to post some more.

Have a good one and happy reading.

There is actually a very good explanation for why he is referred to as a Rake and why he is not one.

6. The Grail King--Joy Nash

I bought this one too but then I remembered that Jayne really disliked Celtic Lord or Fire or something. Hopefully my diminished expectations will increase my reading enjoyment.

9. His Lordship's Desire--Joan Wolf, if it's really bad I'll throw it in the Atlantic.//

I'll be verra interested in what you think. I am still stumped by the name of the book where the heroine's best friend marries the duke.

TM - no, I think it comes later in the book. Let's just say that Ferrin knows he isn't a rake.

One Good Turn. This is the first Carla Kelly book I ever read. It made a fan of me forever, and I had to go hunt down her outrageously expensive backlist. I'm still missing a few books, but am too cheap to pay the asking prices on half.com and other used book sites.

Yep, One Good Turn is the one I recommended, so enjoy!

Oh, and I want to know how you like the Joy Nash book. I've got one of hers in my wish list.

Have a wonderful vacation!

Jen, Thank you. I'm planning on lots of reading and lounging on the beach.

Jane, well that's a relief, I don't normally skim, but sometimes I miss stuff as I'm falling asleep.

JMC, my UBS usually charges extra for "collectible" books, I guess they must have missed this one.

Rosario, I'll blog about everything upon my return.
