True Blood by Patricia Waddell

You can sum up in three words why this book works...

Zero Gravity Sex

Okay, there's much more going on in this book, but I have to admit the first love scene is a doozy.

Coped this from B&N

From the Publisher

She's a diplomat:

Danna MacFadyen of the League of Planets is assigned to investigate the explosion of a space freighter. She must use her psychometric skills to determine whether this was an accident or terrorism -- but for Danna, the hardest part of this assignment is working with Korcian Enforcer Cullon Gavriel.

He's a warrior:

Fighting isn't just in a Korcian's blood -- it's in his very soul. Cullon Gavriel already knows the freighter explosion was terrorism -- targeted at the Korcian prince traveling incognito aboard the ship. Cullon's single goal: to discover who is killing Korcian True Bloods. He never expects to become enchanted with a beautiful Terran female who has the ability to step into the past.

As the pieces of an explosive puzzle fall into place...

Danna and Cullon realize they have uncovered a conspiracy that stretches across the galaxy. The trail leads to the capitol city of the Korcian Empire, where shocking secrets lie hidden-- and where the lines between politics and love cross unexpectedly.

This book is an entertaining futuristic/sci fi read. The h/h are attracted to one another from the first page and they're relationship builds from there. He tries to be controlling and being a diplomat handles him really well without every doing something TSTL. The sex scenes are integrated beautifully and I didn't skip one, which I have a tendency to do if the story is really working. I had one issue with the book which comes at the end of the book, mini spoiler... the killing of True Bloods is a conspiracy, no big deal, but the assassin is homosexual, and this bugs me, a gay man in a militaristic society who resents his treatment by his own father.

I'm heading to the UBS today to look for Ms. Waddell's backlist.

Oohhh. I have to buy this one. You bad Mean Girl, you. BTW, which mean girl do you want to be? I would want to go back to the original Heathers and pick one of those.

Jane, This is a good one.

And as to the Mean Girl thing, I think I've only written one truly negative to the author review. I said Lydia Joyce ruined her last book by making her brilliant heroine TSTL.

Clueless here, never saw Mean Girls so you'll have to pick one for me--LOL.

LMAO @ Zero Gravity Sex!!!

This book sounds interesting. I've been lazily looking for sci-fi romances and this fits the bill. Thanks. :P

Ah - most excellent - you liked this one. I started it but then moved onto another couple before I got very far into it - wasn't that I wasn't liking it but the other ones called to me - no - they yelled at me - to read them. I'll have to go back to this one now!! I have a few of hers (4) and they aren't bad. This is the first of a series isn't it?

How Very.

so not the quote I wanted to use but this is tara's blog and she might not approve of the other two that hit me first ;). I LURVE heathers. Mean Girls, uh sucked. But the sis liked it so there you go.

didn't I post about that once... hmm will have to go looky

anywho...

crap this was good? hmmm le sigh, how mean am I that I sort of hoped it didn't do well so she could go back to historicals?

Really that is mean since I think she was sort of Caroline Jewel'ed in the way she wanted to do more historicals but they weren't selling. Cuz you know the historical is dead. Her back list is almost all historicals except two (maybe) sci-fish books. I didn't like them but did like some of the historicals.

Why is this author's name familiar to me? I thought I'd read one of hers but when I checked it was another Patricia.

This book is one of the rare instances where the cover intrigued me. I've picked it up a couple of times and put it down. Now I want to read it!

Ames, honestly the book is worth reading just for that one scene--LOL. The book is very good.

Kristie, give it another try.

Sybil, I found one of her historicals at the UBS. It's now sitting on the TBR mountain.

Bev, she used to write historicals, but I guess she got lost in the crowd.

Cindy, I love finding a little gem and sharing it. Enjoy.

Rosie, it does have a good cover, subtle.

Ned is running over to BN to buy me the book tonight. He asked me to write it down and I wrote Zero Gravity Sex as the title! LOL.

Jane, Well, I hope Ned found it "Zero Gravity Sex" may have been hard to go by though--LOL.
